The Goonies reunion

In June, 1985 a new movie hit screens all across America. It told a story about young teens embarking on the adventure of a lifetime. 30 years later, The Goonies still captures the imaginations of children and adults.

We find it hard to believe that it’s been 3 decades since the classic film debuted. This Anniversary more than warrants a look back and a “Where are they now” reunion review.

Goonies: Sean Astin

We’ve seen a lot of Sean Astin since he played Mikey, the leader of and inspiration for a group of kids known as The Goonies. During the 90’s, Astin had major roles in Rudy and Encino Man, and later made an even bigger splash as Samwise Gamgee in the Lord of the Rings films.

Sean Astin started his acting career early, and it’s no surprise. As the son of John Astin and Patty Duke, he was born into the entertainment world.

Goonies: Jeff Cohen

If you’re a Goonies fan, you’ve probably done the Truffle Shuffle at least once. The originator of that famous dance move was Jeff Cohen, aka Chunk.

After The Goonies, Cohen made several TV appearances and has since become an influential entertainment lawyer. He still celebrates the movie from his youth and delights fans with appearances at Goonies conventions in Astoria, Oregon.

Goonies: Corey Feldman

Corey Feldman enjoyed a stellar career as a child actor. In addition to The Goonies, he had starring roles in Stand By Me, The Lost Boys and many other films. His Goonies character, Mouth, stands as one of his most beloved roles.

These days Feldman can still be seen on both the big and small screen.

Goonies: Josh Brolin

Josh Brolin starred as Brand, Mikey’s older brother. At 17 he was the oldest member of the gang.

Since then, Brolin has experienced massive success as an actor. In recent years he’s been in mega hits like Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Age of Ultron. We’ll always have a special place in our hearts for Brolin’s work as the concerned big brother.

Goonies: Martha Plimpton

Martha Plimpton won acclaim as Stef in The Goonies, the friends who sometimes felt like an unpaid babysitter. She’s maintained a successful career ever since.

You may have seen Plimpton on the big screen for Beautiful Girls, Parenthood or other popular films. She’s also starred on the small screen in such hits as Raising Hope and The Good Wife.

Goonies: Kim Green

Kim Green worked her magic as Andy in The Goonies. She always stuck with the gang during their wild adventures.

Although semi-retired from acting, Green has had celluloid adventures on Mad About You, ER, Lucas and other iconic shows. She’s also worked behind the camera as a Writer, Producer and Director.

Goonies: Jonathan Ke Quan

As a child actor, Jonathan Ke Quan was a key member of 2 massive summer movies. Just before playing Data in The Goonies, he starred as Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

As an adult, Ke Quan has had parts in several TV shows and movies. He’s also worked in various capacities behind the scenes, including Stunt Coordinator for X-Men and other notable films.

Adults In The Goonies

Many of the young actors from The Goonies went on to star in huge films and TV shows. Aside from the child stars, this iconic movie also featured some well-known adult faces.

Anne Ramsey played Mama Fratelli in The Goonies, but may be even better known as Momma from Throw Momma From The Train.

Joe Pantoliano played Francis, and then went on to starring roles in The Fugitive, The Matrix and The Sopranos.

Robert David played Mama Fratelli’s henchman, and is also very recognizable from such classics as License To Kill and Die Hard.

John Matuszak, who played the lovable Sloth, has several other credits to his name but may be best remembered as a Defensive Lineman for the Oakland and LA Raiders.

Goonies Reunion

There has been talk of a Goonies sequel for several years. Only time will tell if that will ever happen, but fans worldwide keep hope alive that they will see their childhood heroes grace the big screen once again.

Who were the people that made up your own team of Goonies? The kids who went on adventures with you throughout childhood and beyond. If you’re hoping to plan a reunion, then visit PeopleFinders.com. We’ll help you find them today and get the whole gang back together again.

Happy 30th Anniversary to the Goonies. And always remember: Goonies Never Say Die!
